Web 2.0 Tools
Welcome back to my blog. In continuation with our trend of
technology related blogs, this week we will talk about web tools 2.0.
These are online tools that allow educators, students and parents to
teach/learn curriculum content, create/edit videos and pictures, and
so many other cool things. This week I had the chance to learn about
a tool called Verse. I have to admit that I was super excited to
find this software and I am looking forward to use it.
Verse in a
web tool 2.0 that allows users to create immersive interactive
videos. As I was reviewing the tool I couldn’t stop thinking about
how great of a tool this is and I personally think it is the next
big thing for marketing purposes. These interactive videos are a
huge way to keep the audience engaged and I can think of many ways to use it in the classroom. Instead of having a static picture or video,
you are able to integrate clickable hotspots and decision points for
your audience to personalize their viewing experience. We have
talked about how technology can be used to enhance our ability to
keep students on-task, and Verse and similar software that allow for
the creation of interactive videos are a great example of that.
Now,
although there are many advantages of using these type of videos, I
can also think of some drawbacks. You have to be very careful in
creating a video that progresses smoothly and that is intuitive
enough for the audience to click through. You want to make sure that
the hotspots or point-and-click options are in good logical order. The last thing you want is for the audience to feel lost when
clicking through the options or to miss a part of the content that
you want to share because you fail to make a video that flows
organically through the options. But all-in-all, I am confident that
this is a great tool that we can leverage in the classroom not only
to get our curriculum content across to our students, but also have
students use it to create their own projects where they can have fun
and learn at the same time.
Here is a quick demonstration of the tool and one of the many ways that it can be used to create interactive content:

I was happy to hear you say in your video that you thought the tool would be easy to use. I'm curious to learn more about that- it looks as if this is a paid program.
ReplyDeleteHi Lucia, great post! It was neat to see this digital tool in action in your video. Verse looks like a great program for making really engaging content, like you said. As an early childhood educator I think this looks a little tricky for my students but I think this would be a great activity for older students. I agree with you that interactive videos are our future in digital spaces.
